How to test packet loss
- Pause downloads, streams, updates, and cloud sync.
- Run a test near the router.
- Run another test where the problem happens.
- Compare packet loss with ping and jitter.
- Repeat during the time when calls or games usually break.
Packet Loss Test
Packet loss means some network data never arrives. A packet loss test is useful when games rubber-band, calls sound robotic, streams freeze, or apps disconnect even though download speed looks fine.
The best packet loss result is 0%. If packet loss repeatedly appears, check whether it changes near the router, on another device, at another time of day, or with another server.
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0% | Ideal. Data is arriving consistently. |
| Occasional loss | Can still cause stutter in games, calls, and live apps. |
| Repeated loss | Needs troubleshooting, especially if symptoms are visible. |
LizSpeedTest measures packet loss with ping, jitter, download speed, and upload speed so you can see whether a connection problem is missing data, unstable timing, or bandwidth pressure.
